When I enter a website into the address bar that's not in
my history (e.g. www.dell.com), IE hangs and I have to
restart it via task manager. However, if I include
the "http://" along with the web address I am able to
connect to the website. I can make this happen for any
new website. Any thoughts???

Using Regedit, browse to the following registry key and make sure the noted
setting is correct:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete]
"Append Completion"="yes"

also see the following values:

"Use AutoComplete"="yes"
"AutoSuggest"="no"
