IE wont close when task ends

B

Brendon

IE 6.0 w/ service pack 1, Windows XP professional w/
latest service pack.

I've encountered a problem when downloading large
websites or PDF files: IE freezes, and then when I try to
end the task on the task manager, the program will not
close even several minutes leaving the computer alone. I
end up having to restart the computer, but cannot read
PDF files or large websites because the computer freezes.
Any advice is very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Brendon.

When loading a PDF file, the control is passed to the ActiveX control by
Adobe so it is likely that is where the problem lies. Do you still see the
same failure when loading the file locally? Try uninstalling and
re-installing the Adobe reader control. You can also set option to NOT load
the PDF inside of IE (this is an Adobe reader setting).

I changed the settings, but nothing happened, and the
program still doesn't close when it freezes, and it
freezes on large websites. I have to restart the computer
before it closes.
