Need Help for Worksheet

I have a workbook with many worksheets that has dollar amounts for various
items. When I try to update a cell (that has a number) with a new number, the
cell truncates the amount. All numbers are whole. Example: $2000 in original.
When I try to change it to say, $4000, the cell shows only $40. Any cell that
I am trying to change will only show the first two numbers, regardless of
thousands, millions, etc.
I know that this must be something simple; but I don't know what. Please
help as this is a 20 sheet workbook with a lot of numbers that will change.

Click Tools > Options > Edit tab
Uncheck "Fixed decimal" > OK

It sounds like you have some conflicting settings:

You "might" have the cells formatted as NUMBER 0 decimal places *AND* in
Tools>Options>Edit>Fixed Decimal Places *might* be set at 2.
