Need help for MSAS Quirks

Hello,
Has anyone experienced any of the following mysteries while using MSAS, or
do you know any fixes for these problems.
This program did run flawlessly before on this computer as well as a second
computer I own. Then one day I opened the program as usual. I saw the
loading splash screen and noticed that it was taking a very long time to
load. When the program opened, all that was on the screen was the dark blue
line at top with Beta 1 and the then the MSAS beta 1 logo with the file,
options, tools and help. Everything below that is blank except for the blue
background. It will only run scans that are scheduled scans and it will show
results of that scan. When the "Run Scan" button is clicked all information
goes blank. If you click "Real Time Protection" or "Advanced Tools" nothing
happens. From the "Tools" option at top clicking "Summery" will lock up the
program. "Options" settings will bring up that information and appears to
work fine. The bottom line is that the only scan it will run is a scheduled
scan. I have uninstalled several times and each time I have deleted all
traces of the program through reg. cleaners. Any ideas including exorcism
would be appreciated.

Thank you for your quick reply.
I started the computer in safe mode and MSAS reacted as before with a blank
box. I went into MSCONFIG and and blocked startup programs a few at a time
until all were disabled. The result was the same blank box as before. Do
you know of a conflict with MSAS and Nvidia display drivers. I did install a
new video card in this computer but I don't recall if the problem with MSAS
started at the same time. This machine runs Windows XP Media Edition with
SP2.

The video driver thought may well be worth pursuing. I think we have seen
some minor issues--a window which is intended to be outside screen
coordinates becoming visible--because of an Nvidia applet.

I'm not sure what the best choices are for troubleshooting--there's using
bog-standard Microsoft super vga drivers, but that's so ugly you wouldn't be
able to stand it for much longer than a quick test. I'm not sure whether
you have the option with your card of running drivers which have passed WHQL
testing--i.e. signed drivers, versus the latest bleeding edge drivers direct
from Nvidia--if you can test with an older set of drivers, that may well be
worth doing.
