NEED HELP... EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE

I usually find the answers to my questions by reading these boards but this
time i just need some direct (non-technical) help or advice.
I bought an external Western Digital usb 2.0 hard drive for my sony vaio
laptop. I needed it because my drive has about 5 gb left available and I have
been doing a lot of video lately. The new external hdd has 80gb and came
formatted as FAT32.
I already reformatted it to NTFS and here is my concern......
extended partition, primary, logical drive, changing the letter from f to
something else, as my dvd burner is also plug and play........
hope someone can shed some light on this and thanks for the great work you
all do.

Give it a drive letter specific to that device, and and make it a primary drive; you can have up to four anyway.

Thanks for the quick response. Is it alright if i install and run programs
off of the new hdd Fdrive.... ie roxio, keeping all my vid and pics on F
along with the actuall program and it will have nothing to do with my c drive
(actually c and d)...... thanks
