need help determining if my system has boot partition or?

problem began several weeks ago when "my recent
documents" showed someone in my registry, soon thereafter
I had been locked out of my files, programs, couldn't
connect to the internet(dial-up), remote access had been
iniated on my system. I made many drastic attempts to
regain my computer, and every change I would make to
prevent further access;would be reverted back.
Unfortunately I had no Adm.Psswrd, as I had no reason, or
so I thought...I have now uninstalled my OS,low level
formatted 2x, reinstalled OS 2x, booted from 98 floppy in
attempt to remove all obvious partitions, results said
there were none. My 40Gig. HD is now only a 37Gig HD
prior to install of OS, when doing selective startup and
choose original boot.ini, my screen states invalid
ini.file and windows is booting from C:. I am positive I
have a partition or? that is controlling my computer, but
to no avail due(lacking tech skills). My windows updates
forwards me to all current available Win 2000 updates &
not XP Home updates(my OS) My machine is used for all
personal use and teenage gaming, and this has basically
frustrated me and caused me to lose all personal data, my
office, all saved games, pictures, everything... cant
aceess set up with networking option, it skips over the
option and appears greyed out(as though it is not
available), I have cleared my CMOS and reset defaults in
BIOS, still no avail, even after my clean install of my
OEM XP,my files are password protected(as if it's a
Windows default)NOT>>> if you sincerely believe you
could offer assistance please email me

Your 40Gb may appear as a 37Gb because of the way drive manufacturers
measure space. They use powers of 10 so that 1Gb =1,000,000,000 but the
computer uses powers of 2 so that 1Gb = 1,073,741,824 so that 37 times this
number equals 39,728,447,488 or close to 40Gb.

Also, to check partitons did you run FDISK 9if on a FAT32 system) to verify
size and number of partitions?
