I've read several "how to" articles from MS technet site on creating
combined os, update, service pack installation folders for network
distribution and installation. But How do I create a cd sith winxp pro sp1
and sp2 to perform an unattended (or attended even) installation?

I'm using the disk to reinstall the os on my hard drive and I want to get it
all done in one shot.

Bonus question: Which Post sp2 critical updates do I need to intergrate in
the installation (or where can I find such a list)? Thanks.

Please help.

Use AutoStreamer. You only need to slipstream SP2 - since it contains SP1
and all critical patches after SP1 and up to SP2.

Bonus Answer: All of them.
