Hi need some Expert help!

1. I have a upgrade XP SP2 CD, can I slipstream those Windows security
update after SP2 into \I386 then create a new CD for untattended
Installation?
( I read about a few Slipstream SP2 into Gold XP from Internet)

2. For unattended installation must be with two media? i.e. Installation
program on bootable CD and unattended installation script on floppy disk.
Can I put it all in a CD ? How? ( This was the impression I get from reading
a few unattended installation article from the internet)

3. Can I do an unattended setup with formatting the C drive prior to
installation? How? (it never prompt in the setupmgr.exe : Deploy.cab)

4. How can I save and used back, setting and password from my previous
installation of XP (on different drive, standalone Workgroup )into this new
installation? This is to ensure that some encrypted files and E-mail can be
reused.

Thanks in Advance!

(Do not reply to me directly. I used to create copy of this on backup
partition until partition magic 8 and norton utility overwrite all my
partition on 160 GB harddisk)

You should really visit...
http://unattended.msfn.org/

1) Yes - you can slipstream a lot of patches and such into Windows XP
installation Media.
2) No. It can all be on the CD/DVD.
3) Yes. With the unattend.txt or WINNT.SIF file.
4) Encrypted files require MUCH MORE than your password. You better look up
"EFS Best Practices" and learn to properly use it or you *will be* losing
data.

Stanley! Thanks for the reply!

I am still reading the MSNF.org text. So far this is the most comprehensive
material in unantteded Installation I read.

Regarding my question 4. What if encryption is not part of the setup for
users and I have manually set each individual user My Document to
f:\usr\home\. My system crash beyond recovery (c:) I intended to format it
and reinstall the whole system and application. How can I reuse users My
Document which is still in f:\usr\home?
(note: Manually; I mean I logon each user to set the drive path from My
Document property. The only way I know.)

I also noticed some application continue using the c:\...\My Document. How
to prevent this?

The last time I did the reinstallation on the same setting it created a new
directory (i.e. my new C: system, old F:\usr\home\username\My Document), it
move the user to another level of directory eg. f:\usr\home\username\My
Document\username\My Document. Any other way to direct create user to make
use of the data in the F: drive?

Appreciate if anyone can point me to the most concise information source or
answer?
