Need help, cannot check my disks for errors

I cannot run chkdsk or norton disk doctor. They both
tell me that some other program has access to the drive
or some of its files. Windows tells me the disk could not
be checked because the disk check utility needs exclusive
access to some Windows files on the disk. It asks if I
want to schedule this when windows starts. I do, but
when Windows starts, it says it cannot check the files.
I am running Windows XP Home. Any help is greatly
appreciated.

Can you check them if you boot into safe mode?

It's best not to mix and match different disk diagnostic
utilities. Norton Disk Doctor itself may have some type
of monitoring that is interfering with File handles.

Try Disabling Norton Disk Doctor, Reboot and then
do a Chkdsk C: /R and see if you analysis will run.

Apparently, when ever some has Zone Alarm 5 installed on their XP system,
chkdsk may not be able to run. I have not encountered this myself.
