o.k here it is so my mother board was not working properly and I went to
exange it because I had a warranty but unfortunately, the place that i
purchased the motherboard did not have the same one. So they gave me a
different one and when I plugged everything back in a blue screen came up
saying that it failed to boot windows and i needed to restart the system. So
i did this like 6 times and nothing. So I decided to reinstall windows and it
told me that it was going to save my documents folder!!! and it did, but now
I know that my folder was not deleted because my hardrive shows that there is
40 gigs used but I cannot get access to it!! and it's driving me crazy. also
on my old windows instalation I had my files set to private !! please help

When changing out motherboard that are exeactly the same then usually a
repair install of Windows XP is required.

Follow "Method 2: Reinstall Windows XP by starting your computer from the
Windows XP CD"

Since you did not perform a repair install of Windows XP, you now have to
take ownership of your files and folder by following the step in the
following KB article.
