Need boot entry for boot.ini file

Guest

I was reading over Microsoft's knowledgebase article ID # 157992

This article claims you can use the Windows NT boot.ini file to boot up a
Windows 95 or DOS partition located on some other partition other than the
Windows NT partition

I notice this article does not list Windows XP as being applicable

Question: Is it possible to use a Windows XP boot.ini file to boot up a
Windows 98 / MS-DOS partition and if so what is the exact entry needed to
effect said desired result

I currently use a boot manager (Symantec Boot Magic) as my boot mechanism

The current hard disk configuration is as follows:

1st parition: Primary, FAT16, Windows 98/DOS
2nd partition: Primary, NTFS, Windows XP
3rd partition: Extended, (3 Volumes) FAT16, FAT32, NTFS
4th partition: Primary, NTFS, Windows XP

Thank you in advance for your replys !!

Multi-booting WinNT/2K/XP systems with Win98 is complicated
to set up by hand to use the WinNT/2K/XP boot manager, ntldr.
See this for background: http://www.goodells.net/multiboot/

Since the WinNT/2K/XP installer knows how to do it, letting
the installer for XP set up multi-booting with an existing Win98
is the usual way to implement multi-booting for the 2 OS families.

But if you already have both types of OSes installed as mono-boot
systems, you'll have to treat the implementation of an MS multi-boot
for them as an installation of Win98 AFTER WinXP. See this for a
discussion of that: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_repair_9x.htm .
It involves more than just adding entries to the boot.ini file.
