To avoid having to spend a couple of hours to re-install my basic XP-Pro
setup (XP-Pro + all XP updates + anti virus + anti-spy + XP configured to use
2 HD with partitions + all minimal software I need = basic environment before
I start adding games and other secondary software I might add one day), I
want a way to create an image of that environment on DVDs so next time I have
to re-do everything, I simply boot from Floppy/CD/DVD to go through all the
DVDs of that image and it whipe out everything to replace it with my images
(on both HD).

Now what can I use for this ?
Even if it is a trial version that allows me to do this ONCE, I would like
to know.
I know about commercial software but my budget doesn't allow me.

I don't care if I can only do it once and after that, the software expires
or something. I want to create my PC image for good.

I think Microsoft should have modified theire backup software to allow this.
It does create a backup file of everything + one floppy, but doesn't have a
bootable option and direct DVD burning.

There are a lot of things that people (end users) would like Microsoft to
do. Then there are the competitors who go running/whining to the justice
department when it is done. Result = anti-trust law suit.

So, you have to buy from the competitors, who will not allow Microsoft to
incorporate many good features into the operating system.

Ok, I am talking with a Trueimage agent to find out what can be done with the
trial version of Trueimage v9. The agen said I could do just that with the
Trial version and still be able to recover from my image even if trial
version has expired (15 days). It creates a rescue CD from which I boot. This
is just what I need. I'll try it out now.

Btw the Norton anti-virus security Ghost bundle minus rebate can be less
than $100. Just in case it will fit your budget
