Need advice for utility software

Recently, I purchased Norton System Works Professional but am disappointed with it's performance. Some of the issues I have with it are documented on Symantec's support site but as of yet I have been unable to resolve them. (I have partitioned hard drives and my wife has a limited account on an XP home machine both of which Norton doesn't like)."Go Back" doesn't like partitions and to remove the "configuration wizard" and it's subsequent warning message from my wifes limited account,you have to delete a key in the registry that so far I have been unable to find. Also,it could be my imagination but after running all of the diagnostics/fixes/optimizations,it appears that my machine is slower now than it was before
I would like some advice as to different utility programs in the same genre as system works such as System mechanic or Vcoms System Suite ?
What would be the groups recomendation

I have found that System Mechanic (www.iolo.com) to be one
of the best and least intrusive utility programs one can buy.

Utilize the following Windows XP utility programs, at least monthly, in this order:

Thanks Carey,I'll give it a shot. I also regularly perform all of the built in maintenace procedures that you have listed
