NEC ND-3550A DVD drive question

Douglas Fifield

All,

I ordered a NEC ND-3540A 16X/16 DVD REWRITABLE DRIVE as a bare drive
purchase for a build I am doing, but received a 3550A. Does anyone
know the difference?

What do I need to hook up besides the power and IDE interface cable?

The MB is a EPOX EP-9NPA+ ULTRA. I see output pins on the optical
drive for analog out and digital out. Don't have cables for those and
don't know where they would connect on the other end if I had them.

I looked at an installation manual on-line at the NEC site and the
impression I got was that all I had to do was connect the power and
IDE cable. Can anyone confirm that?

TIA,

Douglas

approximately the same drive except the 3550a used less enviromental toxins
in its production. **** me dead if i know or care what is less toxic about
this drive. if you take yourself over to newegg they tell you all about it
in the tech specs.

but if you are a truely paranoid looney, nec has probably included some kind
of copy chip, the bird flu virus comes out the tray at you and the black
helicopters will swoop down on you the first time you copy a movie.
