Navigation works in preview but won't on published site

Here's a problem which has been bugging me for a while.

My site works fine in Fp2003. I'm using shared borders, and the navigation
buttons are OK, and preview fine.

After uploading (the whole site, using WS_FTP) all the pages, images, etc
are uploaded fine. The images in the navigation buttons are updated too. But
the words inside the navigation buttons are from a previous version of the
site!

So far I have tried:

editing and re-applying the template
recalculate hyperlinks
deleting all files from the server and reloading the whole site (and even
*this* did not fix it.

I suspect something in a hidden file somewhere. But I have no idea where to
look.

Can anyone help with this tricky one?

Cheers
John

Your problem is two fold:
1. you're FTP-ing when you should be using http:// in this situation
2. you're using shared borders.
take care of one or both of those issues and all will be well again.

Sadly neither works.
It would help if you could explain why these remedies are appropriate.

Thanks
John
