View Menu>Layout>enable Folder List>apply>OK

On e-mail window, it is called Folder List, not navigation pane which
applies to other folders' windows.
Open Windows Mail > View > Layout > check Folder List > OK

it is checked and it still does not work. What I am looking for is when you
have the list of shortcuts at the bottom of the "folder list" eg mail tab,
calendar tab, task tab etc. Hope this clairfys what I am looking for.

I think I know why it does not show.
Somehow you had the Preview Pane extended all the way to the LEFT of the
window, covering the Folder List.
You need to use the cursor to "drag" it back towards the right side.
It is hard to explain verbally, and you are using web-based interface which
prohibits me from showing you with screenshot.

You are not using Windows Mail. There are no " calendar ", " task " etc at
the bottom of the Folder List.
It helps next time you tell us what your machine has.

Yes i am using "Windows Mail". I did at one time have those short cuts there.
Now they are gone and I wish to have them back. I am running vista and office
2007. Does this help?

So, you are using Outlook as your e-mail program ?
If yes, my limited knowledge ends there. I reiterate, on Windows Mail, there
are no icons at the bottom of Folder List.

Then I thank you for your help.

I just went to MS Outlook 2007 website. I did see Calendar, Mail, Task etc
at the bottom. You ARE using Outlook.

What email program are you using?
Windows Mail doesn't have a calendar tab at the bottom, nor a Tasks tab....
Windows Live Mail has a calendar button at the bottom, but no Tasks...
