Navigation bar problems

The navigation bar (top frame) works faultlessly in FrontPage2000 preview
mode locally on my computer, but when I upload/publish my website, the
navigation bars vanish entirely from several pages. However, if I upload the
problem pages via simple ftp, rather than the FrontPage 'publish web'
function the navigation bars reappear in the problem pages, so it looks as
if the FrontPage 'publish web' doesn't do a complete upload job (like ftp),
somehow.

Apart from making publishing website updates extremely cumbersome and time
consuming, the ftp uploading of the problem pages also zeroes out some page
counters, so I wondered if there are some settings I should try to make
FrontPage work properly again? Any suggestions?

The problem appeared suddenly, after FP97/98 and 2000 publishing had worked
without a hitch for years, so I'm really puzzled by this.

FTP'ing to a site with FP extensions will usually break the extensions.
You should use Publish via the http://youwebname.com method.

Try Recalculate Hyperlinks both on your local machine and then also live on the server.

Most likely though you will need the host to repair or reinstall the extensions then re-Publish to the server.

Never mix FTP and FP publishing preferences. Use one or the other.
Sites using the FP extensions allows the use of components that will work
only with the FPSE.
Since you have FTPd, you probably corrupted the FPSE. It needs to be
reinstalled, and thereafter use only the FP http:// method.

Hi,
I had my web host restart FPE and then deleted all the old contents on the
host server through FrontPage2000. Then I published the whole web again. But
the navigation bars are still missing. I understand from the comments from
my web host support, that they haven't got a clue as to why the navigation
bar is missing (they suggest I get another ISP and/or a new machine!), so I
pose this question here again.

Since I now haven't used any FTP clients, ftp is no longer the culprit.

What I have tried, however is doing a 'recalculate hyperlinks' both on the
web, and locally here on my machine, then delete index.html on the web and
thereafter do another 'publish web' with FP2000, but nothing has helped. In
the FP preview of the local version, all navigation bars are perfectly
displayed, so the problem seems somehow related to the host server/FrontPage
extensions
