when I do a scan on my c: drive it locks up (but not the computer)

I can continue to use the computer normally. When I get task manager (win
2kpro) all programs seem to be working correctly. The special case is when
I have the scan window up I end up with something really strange. On
performance in my task manager I notice that my CPU usage goes from 98 to
about 65 but these swings will get smaller in amplitude until there is about
3% variance then it will get larger in amplitude. Like looking at an
oscilloscope at a frequency and turning up the volume of the freq. generator
then turning it back down again.

In general it looks cool but I think there is something major wrong. When I
scan any other drive it is fine.

stats
scanned 67596

and it has stopped in the c:\winnt\systen32\adobe\svg viewer dir

Nothing to do with the operating system. Better to post to the symantec
support site.
