Names Of People In GBroup Appear In The "To:" Field - How To Suppress?

When I define and populate a group in Outlook Oxpress then send an
email to that group, the names of all the members in the group appear
in the "To:" field on the recipient's emails. Is there a way to
suppress that so only the group name appears in the "To:" field? I'm
using Windows XP Pro and Outlook Express 6.

Thanks!

Not possible that I know of. Use the BCC field instead, and OE should put
"Undisclosed Recipients" in the TO field.

Note also -

This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program, despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:

Hi there,

You can put the entire group in the BCC field instead of the TO field, but
then the TO field will just say "undisclosed recipients." Many ISP's will
not allow you to send emails without the TO field filled in anyway. What I
would suggest is that you create a second group, whose name is very similar
to the real group name, and make yourself the only member of that group.
Then when you send emails, put *your* group in the TO field, and the real
group in the BCC field.

Why bother? Why not just put your email address in the "To" field?

He could, but if he wants the group name to appear in the TO field then
he'll have to do as I suggested.

Unless this is an Exchange distribution group, the sender's email address
will show up in the to field that way anyway...Outlook distribution groups
don't hide members from the recipient.

Is there no way for Microsoft to change this? How lame is it that even the most basic email program can handle this one thing which almost ALL business emailers want/need - and Microsoft, who makes you pay dearly for this program - can't get it right?

Change what?
How old is the thread to which you are replying? It's not on my server. Next
time, include at least the portion to which you are replying.
If you are having trouble hiding the recipients included in a Distribution
List, use the BCC field.

Hi - you haven't included the original question in your post, so it's hard
to know what you're talking about. I'll take a guess -

If you're sending to a distribution group, and put it in the TO Field,
everyone will see everyone else's address. Put the list in the BCC field and
put your own address in the TO field.
