Mystery equipment appears in Device Manager

Lately I have been receiving a message that Windows Ultimate wishes to
install an unknown device, as I thought everything was already
installed, I looked at device manager and I find that I have the
following installed that I know nothing about!:

Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver
Microsoft eHome MCIR 109 Keyboard
Microsoft eHome MCIR Keyboard
Microsoft eHome Remote Control Keyboard Keys
Unknown Device
Microsoft iSCSI Initiator
eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR)

Is all this IR required for Windows Media Center or can I attempt to
remove it?

davegthomas,

I don't actually know why that hardware appears in Device Manager.
Sometimes Windows picks-up phantom devices, but sometimes its simply
picking-up hardware that's enabled in BIOS. Who knows for sure in your case.
If you're sure none of that hardware is attached to your system, you can
uninstall each of them under its Properties in Device Manager.

You may also want to check in BIOS to confirm that some hardware that you
have, but don't know about or don't use, is enabled thus causing your
situation. If you make a mistake and remove something you shouldn't, Windows
will just put it back when you reboot.

By the names of the devices it appears to be a Wireless Keyboard & Mouse
combo that it is trying to install.
