A couple of days ago, I accidentally entered the
website "googles.com (insted of google.com). Immidiately,
a full screen warning from MS "..your computer can be
damaged...) or so, came up, together with a couple of
other minor windows I didn't pay attention to. I just
clicked the website off without exploring further
information.

Checking "User Accounts" later on, I got scared about a
self-instlled Limited an passwordprotected account
named "ASP.NET Machine A..." - and delited it immidiately.

Today, I am afraid, the encountered problem is still in
the System, as this icon has returned to "User Accounts".
The account doesn't show up in welcome screen and not in
Windows Explorer.

What to do to get back a clean System?
I have a CASPER XP created a copy on drive D: - taken
efor THIS accident, but after the one I had som month
ago. There, all of a sudden, a program named "Easy Date"
was listed under Add / Remove, with a desktop icon. It
didn't return after deleting.

CASPER XP's technical support informed that it isn't
possible to copy back from the copy to the Original Drive
C:.

I appreciate any support for taking further action. (The
lates Windows Updates (hotfixes) available today, are
installed).

If possible, use system restore to revert to a time prior
to the infection. This will restore the registry and delete
any files that have been added.

Hi All

Can Anyone explain in more detail about this so called account as I also
have it on my PC in the same way. Although I have Norton System Works
Professional this has not been detected.

Any info would be most appreciated.

Mick

Hi
You have installed the .NET framework from Windows update. It creates that
account.

With Casper-Xp all you do is change the jumpers on the
hard drive or move the cable to swap the "Master-Slave" of
the two drives. The old "d:" now becomes "c:" It will boot
then copy back to "d:" swap the settings back and you're
good to go.

this os NOT an infection, its as a result of automatically downloading and
installing the .NET framework updates from Microsoft.

I can't help with your problem but I have a question about the
above sentence. I know next to nothing about Casper, but it had
been my understanding that Casper was supposed to make an exact
copy of the drive. If so, how could there be a restriction
against copying the copy back to the original? If it's truly an
exact copy, Casper shouldn't be able to tell the copy from the
original, let alone impose such a restriction.

Can someone explain this?

Hello - thanks for this info. I didn't meen to imply the user had an infection,
I didn't know what it was. I merely mentioned a possible "go back" if
it's origin couldn't be ascertained. This is the second time today there's
been a misunderstanding in my posts; I'll have to remember to be more literal.

I emailed Casper XP's Tech Support - here's the reply:

"The restriction is by design. Casper XP does not let
one copy to the drive on which Windows is running.
Casper XP is a consumer-oriented product. As such,
it is designed to ensure a user cannot inadvertently
overwrite their active Windows system drive."

FYI-I've been happy with Casper XP. Used it to upgrade
my old hard disk to a larger one (piece of cake) and now
use it once a week as a backup program. Works while I
sleep! Great safety net.
