Mysterious Problem

Computer turns on automatically.

Overnight the computer boots automatically and we cannot
figure out why. Some facts:

1. yes the computer is turned all the way off (not
hibernating or in restart mode) but the power strip is on.

2. there are no scheduled tasks except antivirus scan

3. power options under control panel are the same as
other computers that don't turn on.

Check the BIOS...for "wake on..." The documentation should list the
options, one of which may be enabled.

Check your computer BIOS settings for Wake On LAN and/or Wake On Modem
settings. Disable them if present. Check the documentation for your BIOS for
details on how to access, modify and save these settings.

Check in your BIOS setup for Power settings, and disable anything that
might generate a wake up - eg on a LAN (especially if you have cable
internet), modem, mouse
