MYSPACE and BSD (Blue Screen of Death)

P

perky

Came home with brand new HP laptop today.

First serious task... log in to MYSPACE.

0000000E C0000005,8045AE1C,979875A4,00000000

After crashing with Internet Explorer, I downloaded and installed FireFox.

Same crash.

It messed up the Firefox install, too. firefox would not run any more... message that installation was not complete...
reboot... but I just did.

Performed a System restore to go back.

1) Where is the best place for me to take this discussion?
2) Can anyone verify that you can log in to MYSPACE?

Thanks

I'm not surprised, considering that MySpace feeds up some of the worst
HTML (by default) on the web (not to mention what individual users do
with their pages).

I've had Firefox and IE hang numerous times on MySpace and MySpace has
become a magnet for people who like to serve up malware in their spare
time.

Is there a page in particular you are looking at ? The girlfriend and I log
into Myspace probably once a day and no crashes for me. The only time I got
crashes with myspace is when they went to the new adobe flash and it
wouldn't load correctly. I had loaded a few PCs with XP and they went there
first and got IE crashes is how I learned about it

If you haven't already run over to
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoid=BIOW
and get the latest flash and see if that makes a difference

Well... never had a MySpace account, but you piqued my interest so I just
created a MySpace acct and logged on without issue... signed out and logged
back on without issue.

Generally that part works (not always but most of the time).

But dig further into the site......

Yea, like Scott said, you gotta find a page where someone has loaded a boat
load of crap. My GF's friend has her page loaded with a bunch of junk,
scroll down to her friends and click on a few of those. After 2 profiles or
so, I had Interner Explorer using 100+ MB of ram.

Actually, here's a better one. It's Jennifer Hudson who was on American Idol
and is now in the movie Showgirls. She's got enough going on to make IE goes
nuts. If you start scrollign down, I had Vista\IE7 showing 160MB in use,
though after a few mins that number dropped to 109MB. Some people just go
crazy !

Heh well the good news is, at least hers is legible. Most MySpace
idiots would have gone for purple instead of white text on that page.

I have the same problem when opening certain profiles in myspace (only
certain profiles)... I have a new ACER laptop... but I was able to open those
profiles when running in SAFE mode with networking... and I have no problem
opening those profiles in my other PC (which is an HP) but still running in
XP... so any ideas?

Yes, I had IE crash on someone else's page... like I said, new to MySpace.
But the original poster said they were getting the error when they logged
on. I guess that means their page has a boat load of crap...

When you first log on to myspace, you're actually taken to a fairly neat,
bland page. Where you check e-mails and such. You don't get whatever you
have on your actual profile, until you look at your profile. I've never seen
a BSOD off of myspace, but maybe he's got something funky going on with his
config

Well, if you don't mind, can you post that profile ? I'm interested to see
if I get a IE crash or if it works.

If you have a problem with Vista, ask it here :)

I can log into Myspace.com just fine here. However, Myspace has a habit
of
failing unexpectedly. It isn't the broswer, it is their servers failing
for
some odd reason. Of course those errors don't cause a bsod.

I would suggest talking to HP about your problem. They are responsible
for
ensuring your computer works.
