MyDVD has detected DMA is turned off.

When I try to burn a CD or DVD I get an Alert saying MyDVD has detected that
DMA is turned off for one or more recording devicesattached to the system. In
order to successfully write to the device , DMA should be turned on.
When I checked the hardware properties it has DMA is assigned.
Where else can I check to see if DMA is turned on or off? I have a sony
DRU-530A DVD±RW/±R/CD.

Hi Sport,

Look in the Device Manager, and check the IDE/ATA ATAPI controllers and
check the properties of both the primary and secondary IDE channels.

current transfer mode ultra DMA mode2

current transfer mode: not applicable

SECONDARY
Device 0
device type: auto detect
Transfer mode: DMA if available
current transfer mode: not applicable
Device 1
Device tyoe: is greyed out
transfer mode PIO only
current transfer mode: PIO mode
Current transfer mode: not applicable

That might be the problem. I've checked my settings and all of them is DMA.
Maybe you could uninstall the secondary ide channel and reboot your
computer. It should redetect it and you could check again to see if the
secondary device 1 settings are still grayed out.

Also, if your CD/DVD drives are on the same IDE cable, make sure one is set
to master and the other one is set for slave.

It seems the Secondary controller is configured to use the older PIO mode
and hence the error(is your DVD writer connected to Secondary ide
controller?) . See the motherboard manual on how to set the ide controllers
to use DMA in the CMOS(BIOS) setup.

If you are comfortable with the BIOS, you can easily find and modify the
setting yourself.

Bad cable/connection or master/slave configuration.
