MyDoom Virus Hitting the Internet Hard

T

Trish

Have you been receiving a lot of e-mail messages with attachments that say,
in the body of the message, "The message contains Uni..."?

This is the latest major virus epidemic: MyDoom (also called Novarg), and it
is clogging e-mail servers and Inboxes all over the world. According to
computer security company Central Command, over four thousand infections
were confirmed within 45 minutes of its discovery, and a February 1 report
from China said the virus had infected over 200,000 computers there.

The worm was designed to launch a denial of service (DoS) attack against
www.sco.com on Feb. 1 and a variant is expected to attack Microsoft's site
on Feb. 3. Both SCO (a UNIX software company) and Microsoft have announced
$250,000 rewards to anyone who helps them track down and convict the virus's
writer. For more about the damage done, see:
http://www.winxpnews.com/rd/rd.cfm?id=040203SE-MyDoom_Damage

For technical info about this worm and how to protect against it, see:

Read and learn. That way when someone tells a joke about current event,
you won't have that stupid expression on your face. Duh, "What are you
talking about?"

It's rather funny that your trying to warn people about something you
know so little about. Getting your news off of TV is the only sure way
to continue wallowing in your own ignorance.

READ & educate yourself, don't rely on 15 sec sound bites to keep
yourself informed.

You must be talking about something my daughter may have posted here.......I
didn't post that post and I just replied to you because you said something
about some guy apoligizing.........Some homes do have more than one user on
the comps. I went back and looked for the post and according to it the
virus info was from a well know site, WinXpnews.com (which some people in
this news group are subscribed to)..........Here is the page, see for
yourself.

I went to the link you supplied and read that. Just because the guy
apoligized, has nothing to do with the fact that the virus is out there and
infecting the computers of many. The purpose of these news groups is to
help others and if warning them about a virus is bad, then so be it.

I could apologize for calling you a jerk (JERK), but the fact remains that
you are still a jerk. I guess I shoud apoligize........I'm sorry that your
a jerk!

I can understand why so many people dislike you in here.

It may be hitting the internet hard but most of us dealt
with this over a week ago when it started. Your news is old
news.

Again you failed to realize that my first post was a joke, which you
didn't get because you are so ill-informed.

Thanks for apologizing for me being a jerk! It is you're fault! <vbg>

Nothing wrong with your warning, however your promotion of the site
WinXP News, was a little of the top.

Your first link in your OP -

http://www.winxpnews.com/rd/rd.cfm?id=040203SE-MyDoom_Damage

Really is just a leech off of the real link -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3449931.stm

Your second link in your OP -

http://www.winxpnews.com/rd/rd.cfm?id=040203SE-MyDoom_Info

Actually redirects people to a MS page -

http://www.microsoft.com/security/antivirus/mydoom.asp

Stop you shilling for WinXP News, a web site that just repackages other
people's content, and give the real links!

Oh, by the way....I didn't post the OP. I'll admit it came from my
computer, but my daughter may have posted it. I will take up for my
daughter in situations like this! Not many kids today care about helping
others these days and when they do, they encounter people whom choose to be
rude and attempt to make jokes at other peoples expense. I think her trying
to help was wonderful.
Now may God bless you and have a nice day!

What I wrote was quite clear. If you think it was rambling that would
say a hell of a lot more about you than it does me. Take care!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Some parent you are! Letting your brat on the USENET unsupervised!
Now may God bless you and have a nice day!

I don't believe in a "God" with a large "G," but I'm having quite the
