Hello
My Yamaha CDW 8424E drive does not recognize a disk sometimes. It recognizes
after ejecting, turning the CD and inserting.
The drive makes a DirectCD formatted disk corrupted sometimes also.
Drag-to-disk scandisk on my Yamaha CDW 8424E drive determined some files as
corrupted on a CD-RW. But Drag-to-disk scandisk on my Sony 195E drive
determined all files as "OK" on the CD-RW.
The CD-RW brand is Verbatim, the recommended by Yamaha for my Yamaha CDW
8424E.
I use CD-RW only, not CD-R with Drag-to-disk.
How to correct the Yamaha CDW 8424E drive behavior?

Perhaps the laser on the drive is weak or misaligned. (defective drive)

Get a new one.

Just because it has worked for 2 years doesn't mean it will work today.
When it decides its time isup, its time is up.

Since you've had it for 2 years, it isn't covered under Yamaha's 1 year
warranty, so your best bet is to ditch it and get a new one (CD burners are
almost a dime a dozen now, you may even want to consider a DVD burner).
