My Word acting up

[Brontosaurus Burger AKA Vista!]

I called a friend who told me how to double click an icon on the desktop and
I didn't even know you could do that with Vista. I guess they make these
Operating systems smarter every day. I just wish I knew how to use an
Operating System.

Once I double click on the Word icon, I get a screen with some words on top
and some white space in the middle of my screen. What do I do now?

I am not sure I can do that without taking the sledgehammer to dinner and a
movie. By the way, what does a sledgehammer eat should I decide to take it
to dinner? How about a movie? Can the sledgehammer get in for a discount?

These are important questions to be answered before any action can take
place. Just FYI
