desktop icons and applications

Hello,

I want to have two desktop icons that open a web page
when clicked. However I want one of the icons to be
opened with internet explorer and the other one
with firefox. Is this setup possible and how can
I achieve it under Windows Vista Home Premium?
I have tried right clicking on each web shortcut icon
to see if I could set the application to open the web
link with on an individual basis but didn't find anything
pertinent.

I would like the two desktop icons of the same type
to be opened with different browsers upon double clicking
on them.

Any help with this operation would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

John Goche

I don't know the path for FF so I use Opera in the example

The path "C:\Program Files..) will be different, though..

One icon points to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"
www.telkku.com

the other "C:\Program Files\Opera10\opera.exe" www.telkku.com

Sure.
Put shortcuts to IE and FF on the desktop.
Edit the Properties to add the URL after the target path...

for IE
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"http://www.bing.com/

for FF
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"  http://www.bing.com/

OK, thanks. I did not realise that in order to change the application
used
to open the link I actually had to click on the "Change icon..."
button found
under Right Click -> Properties -> Web Documents in Windows Vista (as
I was looking for something like change application since to me coming
from unix an icon is just an icon, but windows actually keeps track of
which icons can be used with which applications, so that each
applications has its own set of icons which is not the way I
believe unix window managers work I believe.

Thanks,

John Goche
