My wireless internet just stopped working after a Vista update.

Directly after updating to the current updates, my wireless internet stopped
working. My router and internet is fine, but my computer will not connect.
Also, my wife and I's computers are HP Pavilion laptops. We use HP Wireless
assistant to connect, when we double click on the program in control panel,
the program never loads. Was wondering if this was from updates, or from a
new virus that disallows use of wireless. Here's the kicker though... Her
laptop has Windows XP, mine has Vista. Does anyone have a solution, or can
point me in the right direction? The activator light on the wireless switch
on my laptop also no longer lights, similar of what happened to the wife's
computer before it couldn't connect either.

times. happened to mine a while back too. lucky for me a simple
"diagnose & repair" in the network center got mine back on line. whew!!

Could be a compatibility glitch. Have you tried connecting manually through
the Connect To link on the Start Menu right pane? Select your Wireless
Connection, click Connect and follow the instructions on the wizard. If the
problem persist, I would suggest doing a roll back through System Restore to
see if it resolves the problem.

If you have some other computer available (how else would you have posted?),
go online to HP.Com and do an online chat. I've had good luck with that in
the past. Sometimes it helps to have thought out the problem and write some
stuff in Notepad, so you can quickly copy and paste info to respond to the
HP person's questions.

Oh, give this a try too. Click Start > Network > Network & Sharing Center
(command bar) > click the X in middle in the topology where it says you
disconnected from the Internet and it will run a little diagonis, did this
the other day when my router went down and it fixed it. :)

I have the same problem - it has occured 2x after downloading the
latest updates from Microsoft. I could only get internet access back
after performing a recovery action. I have Vista Business and a
Toshiba. Not real happy with Vista. I have had nothing but problems
with Vista and no support from Microsaft, unless you are willing to
pay.

I tried contacting Microsoft but they want to charge me to fix their
updates. Guess I can't update any more unless they fix their updates.
