"My TV" has disappeared

A couple of months ago, my computer up and died. A friend was able to revive
it and everything seems to be working OK, except there’s an issue with XP MCE
2005.

The first problem was that when I tried to set up the TV settings, it
couldn’t find the TV tuner. My friend came over and was able to fix that and
when we went through set-up, everything seemed to be just fine – it found the
local cable company, said it was downloading the guide, etc.

When I go into Media Center, My TV isn’t an option. It only shows My
Pictures, More Programs and Settings. I can’t see the guide (though I think
it is downloading when it’s supposed to) and I can’t watch live TV. If I go
through Settings, it does list all of the local channels correctly.

If I go through My Computer to access the folder with TV shows recorded
prior to the crash (friend was able to save them), I can open them with Media
Center and watch them just fine through Media Center. The problem seems to be
that *something* is missing for making the connection with live TV.

I have a Dell Dimension 5100C and a limited number of disks because I didn’t
think to ask for them until there was a problem after my warranty expired.
And, of course, Dell won't send me the disks now. >.\

Any help – especially in layman’s terms =.) – would be greatly appreciated.
I’m *really* missing recording TV.

I recommend you post to the newsgroup for the Media Center Edition.
