My spell checker won't work in messages?

I can only get my spell checker to work in plain text. I like using the html
format, but would really like to have the auto correct options, etc. Any
suggestions on how to fix this?

Not without any information whatsovever on what you are working with and in
what configuration.

Sorry, I'm new to this. I am using outlook 2003 and cannot get the spell
checker to work in a html or rich text format. It will only work with plain
text. I've tried the options in ms word 2003 and the options in outlook
2003. Right now I have to compose messages in plain text and have the
microsoft word checked to edit email messages. That is the only way it will
check. If I mis-spell a message and run the spell checker in html it will
not catch the words needing corrected. Not sure what I am missing.
