OK, I have xp pro, my sound stops working after a few minutes, no matter
what. I thought it was a hardware problem but it isn't. It reports the
error that my sound card is not properly installed or something. I tried
reinstalling sound card drivers, pci drivers, direct x nothing. It's a
laptop by the way. Does anyone now how to fix this without reinstalling
windows, I really dont want to do that, well I will if I have to, but I want
to try all other options first..

Please help

Thanx.
Michael.

If you can think back to when the issue first surfaced, the easiest
thing to do would be to perform a system restore back to the day
before that point. That won't eliminate any of your program data --
the only thing impacted will be any new apps you downloaded past the
restore point will have to be re-installed. But all your existing
stuff, data and all, should be there. That's by far the easiest route.

Most likely what you have is some sort of driver conflict that
surfaced, possibly as a result of new software you installed, etc.

Tryed that too a while ago, didn't help....
Thanx for the advice anyway...
M.
