Ive had a Sapphire 9600 Pro Ultimate Edition for 1 month now....
Yesterday I got a message during bootup saying something like : "connect the
powercable for your 9700"
why would I get this message when I have a 9600 Pro and afaik it doesnt need
a powercable?!
..
I hit the restart button twice and the same message appear....
the third time everything was ok. I boot into windows xp and everything
works as normal..

the next time i reboot everything on the screen was extremely slow.
i shut down my computer and turn it back on again....this time my pc speaker
makes beeping sounds and there was no picture on my monitor.....
i take out card put it back in....same thing happens....beeping sounds and
no picture...

I take out the sapphire card and reinstall my old matrox g450....everything
works as it should...
put the sapphire card back.....beep, no picture
what is wrong?

im using windows xp, motherboard is Epox 8kta+Pro, power supply is 340 watt
(chieftec)
that board and power supply should easily be able to run the 9600
pro. Time to RMA dude ~

The "YOU HAVE NOT CONNECTED THE POWER CABLE TO YOUR RADEON 9700 VIDEO CARD"
message is coded into the 9600 bios (don't ask me why - ATI probably used a
modified 9700 bios for the 9600 series and didn't bother to remove it. It is
possible (although unlikely) that the card's bios has become corrupted - it
might be worth trying the card on another motherboard to see if the problem
persists. It is also possible (and likely) that this is a PSU problem - I
had a 9500 that wouldn't boot with one PSU that worked perfectly with my
8500 - changed the PSU and the card booted fine. If you haven't yet tried
it it would be also worth clearing your motherboard's CMOS by unplugging
power cable from PC, clear cmos with jumper, set jumper back to normal,
reconnect power, try to boot. You may also find that a motherboard bios
update helps - and, if the board allows it, increase AGP voltage and/or AGP
drive strength. Also AFAIK the 9600 series, unlike other graphics cards,
requires Fastwrites to be 'ON' for proper functioning but I don't know if
this would affect POST (I doubt it).
