Sapphire Radeon 9600 Clock & Memory Speed

Me

I bought the Sapphire Radeon 9600 (non-pro) card about a month ago
from newegg.com and the listed specs are clock speed of 325MHz and
memory speed of 400MHz.

When I check the properties in the ATI control panel/Adapter tab it
shows the following:
Chip Type: Radeon 9600 Series AGP (0x4150)
DAC Type: Internal DAC(400 MHz)
Memory Size: 128MB
Adapter String: Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis
Bios Information: BK-ATI VER008.015.015.000

I recently installed the Rage3DTweak utility and in the Overclockers
tab it shows as the default settings:
Core Clock: 324.00 MHz
Memory Clock: 202.50 MHz

The core clock speed seems a little slower than advertised and the
memory speed seems a lot slower. Did I get a defective card or are
these numbers normal?

TIA to anyone who can help a newbie clear up his confusion.

Hi,
your getting confused! The RAMDAC is nothing to do with your GPU or MEM
speed, it's something else. Your card seems to be working fine!. Oh don't
forgot that DDR memory speed is doubled (as in Double-Data-Rate), so your
actually getting 405Mhz there. . . .OHHH a 5MHz overclock on your
memory!!!!!!!!!!! 5Mhz above the spec is says on the website.

Umm, between you and me, that 5mhz can easily be the measure deviation
most software programs have...

the memory setting is for DDR mem. You double it for your actual memory
speed.

OK - it seems that based on the replies from Sunbow and Wayne Youngman
my card is "normal", so I won't worry about the numbers anymore.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to help.
