my Recycle Bin quit working

Glen Swift

I think the problem started when I ran Earthlink's PC FineTune and
accidentally closed the program while it was running.

Now, both while running PC FineTune and in general, I get an error message
whenever a file is attempted to be deleted (either by myself or that
program). The error message says:

"Error Deleting File or Folder
"Cannot delete [name of file]: The directory or file cannot be created."

When it talks about a file not being able to "be created," I suspect it's
referring to its attempting to create it in the Recycle Bin, but don't know
for sure. What I do know is that if I double-click on the Recycle Bin it
attempts to produce a listing of its contents but no amount of searching
(with the flashlight) reaches a conclusion. It just keeps searching
endlessly.

My repeated attempts to get help from Earthlink have proved less than
useful. All they do is tell me to unistall PC FineTune and then reinstall
it again. I've done that several times and it's just been a waste of time.

I hope someone here can help me get my Recycle Bin working again.

Thank you in advance,
Glen

You don't have to post this multiple times. Wait!! Remember some
people have other things to do and it was Father's day yesterday at
least in the US.
If you have new info, post to your original message.

Why do you need PC Fine Tune?

Dump the registry cleaner
http://aumha.net:80/viewtopic.php?t=28099

Once you have used a registry cleaner there is no way to know whether it
has damaged the registry.

Try System Restore going back to before the incident occurred.

You may have difficulty using System restore. If you do post details of
your anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall arrangements.

Another possibility

I apologize for posting twice, but my first email has never appeared in the
listing, as far as I could see.

If anyone answered my original email, I'd appreciate their copying their
message to this thread so I can see it.

Thanks,
Glen

Thanks for this. Repairing the recycle bin has cleared out those old
Adobe files that Kaspersky was reporting a vulnerability in and that
could not be deleted by emptying the bin.
