My Pictures won't move out of Shared Documents

I wanted to copy pictures from My Pictures in My Documents on my desktop over the LAN to a laptop. I went to Sharing in My Pictures and it said to drag it to Shared Documents. So I did. I copies the files, no problem. Then I go to move My Pictures back to My Documents, and Windows says My Pictures is a system file and cannot be moved or renamed. What gives? Do I just make up a new My Pictures folder in My Documents and then move the contents into it? If "My Pictures" is a system file, will it mess something up if I just create a folder with that name

TIA for any suggestions

Abbi,

By dragging the My Pictures to the Shared Documents folder, you have actually relocated the My Pictures location [in the registry key]. But you will be unable to move it back to My Documents area. In this case, a little bit of registry edit is required.

See: How to redirect special folders in Windows XP
