"my pictures slideshow" issue

Hello, all. I apologize if this has been asked and answered already
but I can't find it anywhere

This happened with my old PC, which was running winXP, SP2. I can'
say whether the problem started when SP2 got installed, window
mediaplayer 10 got installed, or some other point in time, but a
some point the "my pictures slideshow" screensaver just stoppe
working. I did not move the image files, and when i am in th
"screensaver" tab of the desktop properties, i can click "preview
and see the slideshow no problem

I just bought a new PC a couple of days ago. I was overjoyed that th
slideshow worked on it. (i'm crazy in love with this woman; we'v
been dating for well over a year, and i just like to fall asleep t
her pictures flashing on the screen.) while chatting in real lif
with a friend two nights ago, the slideshow worked. by the time th
night was over, it didn't work. again, i'm not sure what cause
this, but i DO know that i added SP2 and updated mediaplayer t
version 10. just to be safe, i went into mediaplayer's 'tools' an
selected the option to allow screensavers while mediaplayer i
running

this is stumping the crap out of me. i can build PCs with my eye
closed, and i am the guy my friends call over to fix compute
problems, but this blasted issue is infuriating me and i haven't see
anything about it on the net...what gives? :?

Hi,

The short answer is that some background process is running that is
preventing the screensaver routine from initializing. Selectively disabling
things on the application and process tabs of Task Manager will probably be
the only way to figure out which one it is. I would suspect WMP even though
you have the option correctly selected.
