my pictures folder problem

i downloaded some pictures from the internet into the folder My Pictures.
Then i decided to make one of the pictures as my background. Now everytime i
download an image from the internet into My Pictures folder, they appear in
the Display list for desktop background. How do you break the link between My
Pictures folder and settings for destop backgroung?

Move your stuff to a sub-folder in "My Pictures"

i've already done that - but why does xp set a link that cannot be changed?it
seems rather stupid to have a folder already in the operating system to save
pictures into, but when you set one of those as a background all of the
images that are saved into the folder also are included by default in the
wallpaper settings.

Because "My folders" are for the computer newbies. If you don't want to
see stuff in "My Pictures", don't put it in "My Pictures".
