I get a message by NT AUthoruty\System that the pc will shut down in one
minute.
I have downloaded diagnostic and repair tools from microsoft, but the
problem has not be solved. I have also scanned the pc for viruses but nothing
has been found.
I am running windows 2000 pro and the pc is connected to a LAN.

Start simple. Disconnect the Lan and make sure your computer does not connect to
the internet. Now start and watch. If no change you will have to run the various
scanners such as AD-Aware, Spybot and stinger. If no better, restart with a new
install and buy Acronis as the job you are on will only take 1/10 of the time if
you have a recent image of C: drive
