I recently changed the location of my cumputer from my office to my home. I
am on a cable modem with an extended range D-link. My outgoing mail is now
being rejected with the following error message: :Relaying denied. Proper
authentication required."

I have gone through all the on-line help suggestions and nothing works.
Cananyone help me?

Hey, this is simply because your internet provider changed. The isp (internet
provider ) at your home will not let you use their outgoing server unless
you provide proper authentication. For this, contact the Internet provider
for outgoing server settings. You will also have to provide the username and
password for the ISP under More Settings > Outgoing server > Logon Using.

This is James again, I forgot to add that I receive the following error
message 550 5.71 "Relaying is denied. Proper authentication required. I
have tried everything I know to do - can anyone help me.

Arun,

Thanks for the quick reply. However, I have recently left my regular
employment and opened a home office. There was always someone at the office
who could fix these problems for me and now I find that I am a real novice at
trying to fix my own problems and accordinly do not even know how to contact
my internet provider for outgoing mail server settings, not do I know my
usaername or password for the ISP.

Can you offer a little more guidance?

Just to make sure I'm understanding... You've left your former employment
but you're still trying to use the ISP account that your former employer had
previously provided? And all you've done is take your computer home
unaltered, and now you're trying to use the exact same Outlook email account
settings for your home office mail?

Hey James,

You need to contact whoever gives you internet. There should be somebody you
pay your bills to. This might be a dial up connection through your phone as
well.
Give a call to the support people of that company and they should guide you.
