Sir,s

Due to electric city failer or some other reson when microsoft outlook did
not sutdown properly it will take very long time for re-opening.
you are therefore requested to please let me know is there any solution for
this problem.

also please advise the maximum size of pst??

your great support in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Malik Nadeem

If the PST file was not properly closed (i.e. by not properly shutting
down Outlook), then Outlook needs to perform a scan and repair of the
PST file before being usable. Not much you can do about it.

P.S. Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express are two different products.

You are using Office Outlook 2003 instead of Outlook Express V6 or Windows
Mail (which is the next incarnation of OE). There is no such thing as
"Microsoft Outlook Express (2003)"

If a PST file has not been properly closed, then Outlook will invoke
scanpst to scan the file for corruption, and repair it if any corruption
is found. The PST file is not a flat file, but a complex database, and
if it gets corrupted, then part or all of your data may get lost. To
scan a PST file of 4 or 5 GB will take a long time. If your area is
prone to power failures, then you may need to consider another power
solution for your computer.

Also, a regular backup for your PST file should be done if your messages
or other Outlook data are important to you.

thanks for the solution could you please advise procedure of backup PST

yes brian,

many features are missing in Outlook Express V6 which are availabe in
microsoft outlook express.
for example: the option to send a perticular mail at pre-determined time is
not avaialabe on outlook express

this is the reson we prefer to use microsoft outlook express instead of
outlook express and we want solution for such problem which we are facing in
microsoft outlook.

thank you.

Again,. "Outlook Express V6" and "MIcrosoft Outlook Express" ARE EXACTLY
THE SAME PROGRAM. "Microsoft Office Outlook", however, is not.
