Have you checked with Sony for updated drivers for your laptop?

It probably defaulted to hibernate and requires you to tap the power button
to resume.

This is a problem with all people who use windows vista on a laptop. It is a
problem with windows vista's driver allocation and here is how to fix it;

1. Open â€Computer managementâ€
2. Open “Device Managerâ€
3. Expand “System Devicesâ€
4. Right Click “ACPI Lidâ€
5. Click “Update Driverâ€
6. Click “Browse Computerâ€
7. Click “Let me pick from a list on my computerâ€
8. Un tick “Show Compatible Hardwareâ€
9. Scroll to the bottom of the right hand box and click “Volume Managerâ€
10. Click “Yes†when Windows prompts you with security warnings
11. Reboot when Vista prompts you to do so
