My keyboard is typing the wrong characters

Paul

On my laptop my keyboard is typing the incorrect characters. However, if I
log off and into another user (I have 3 users) it is fine. It's only in my
(admin) account.
I've scanned for viruses, corrupt files etc. and it doesn't show anything.
What can cause this?
Thanks

Greetings --

Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options, make sure
that "Standards and formats" and "Location" are correct. Start >
Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages > Details >
Default Input Language.

If Windows XP, try this:
Check the "Regional and Language Options" in the Control
Panel. It may be set to another language. When you
click the above option in the Control Panel, click on the
Languages tab, and then click Details to ensure that you
are using English or whatever language is native to you.
I'll keep checking for you.

Go to Control Panel - Regional And Language Options. Take the Language
page and click Details.
There check the Keyboard layout in use, under 'Keyboard', for 'English'
in the lower pane, There are several possible layouts, and you are
probably on an inappropriate one (eg US and UK are different)

If the one you want to use is not there, click on Add and search for it
in the lower drop down, Click OK. Then in the parent page, select
this combination in the Default Input language in the top drop down,
Apply, OK and Apply any time it is available on the way as you OK out.
Then close and restart to bring it into use.
