My IP Address

I was recently on the internet, trying to download something from a website.
This website allows you to download only one file at a time, and when I tried
to download something, it told me that my IP address was already downloading
something else. What does this mean? Is this safe? As far as I know, I'm not
on a proxy, and I do have a wireless router. Can someone help me?

I think the website allows you to download one file at a time. It has nothing
to do with your router or Windows XP. However, Windows XP limits to 2
downloading sessions simulteneously by default. But you can adjust that by
changing a registery key.

The thing is, I wasn't downloading two things. When I was trying to download
my first ever file from that website, it was telling me that I was already
downloading something, when I actually wasn't. Could this mean that someone
is stealing my internet through my wireless internet connection?

Do you own the wireless router? If you do, you can check who is/are using
your internet connection. Most SOHO routers provide you a Web-Based interface
to manage routers. You can also restrict your wireless connection by using
WEP encryption, MAC address restriction, etc depend upon your router
capability.

Hi

To think that some one is leeching on your Wireless and at the exact same
time downloads from the same Site? I would check with Ripley.

If your are on a dynamic IP it might be that someone else had the IP before
you and used the same Website, and their log is confused.

Regardless of what this story is your Wireless should be secured.
