My friend let me use his copy of Vista Ultimate and can't activate

Your options are to either A)buy a license for Vista; or B)re-install
whatever OS was on your laptop before your friend let you try to steal
Vista: or C)install some version of Linux......'A' would be the
simplest yet most expensive, 'B' would give you maximum compatibility
but with decreased simplicity, and 'C' would be the biggest pain in
the ass, but free. But whatever you do, don't be a douche bag!

i never tried out linux before...always been a fan of windows basically. how
is linux and where do i go to get it for free?

It's a little weird at first. If you're the type who likes to
download software and try it out, it's worth a go. If not, purchase a
license for Vista.

Happens I am downloading a Ubantu as I type this.

Well then I don't see as you have much choice. Get your pal to
download a Linux for you and burn it to a CD. You can always switch
to Windows later.

Also, you could probably by a copy of Windows 2000 in Ebay pretty
reasonably.

okay so i find one of my old XP Pro disks but will i be able to downgrade my
windows version.
