Downgrading to Vista Premium from Ultimate

I recently borrowed a copy of vista Ultimate from friend and only have the 30
days to activate. I want to keep all my data that I have from my recent
upgrade from XP Pro. I am most likely going to buy a version of Premium to
get a geniune copy of vista. What do I need to do?- Buy a full version of
Premium, or an OEM version, or have to reinstall XP Pro then upgrade back to
Premium. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

There's no downgrade, regardless of whether you but OEM or retail, so you
need to back up your data to removable media and do a clean install. If you
buy a retail upgrade, you will need to reinstall XP first, and this cannot
be done without removing and recreating the existing system
partition/volume.

Your best and easiest option will be to buy the Upgrade
version of Vista Ultimate. Then all you will have to do is
change your product key and activate.
