My friend is unable to watch a dvd that I burned

I downloaded the movie from my camcorder into Movie Maker, then added music
etc. and then burned it onto a dvd. I was able to view the dvd onto my
computer but when i gave it to my friend, she is unable to view the dvd on
her computer & her dvd (TV) player. Help....did I miss something in creating
this dvd?
 
Dumb question but does she have an actual DVD player on her
PC? If so, she may also need the appropriate software to
watch it on the PC. We have a DVD player on one of the PCs
at work and even though it has windows media player, it
won't play.

As for the personal player, make sure it plays the format
you put the movie on. (DVD-R or DVD+R).
