MY Floppy Does Not Work With XP

Does XP have a problem with Floppys?? My floppy isnt
workin at all. According to my device manager, its workin
properly. The problem is that whenever insert a diskette
(Formatted. 1.44 Mb 3.5) it says that the disk is not
formatted. And whenever i try to save something to the
disk, it freezes. This is a problem for me cuz i just got
my dsl modem, and the modem has a usb plug and an enet
(ethernet) plug. The usb plug is a bit damaged, meaning
that i get disconnected a lot, so i bought an enet plug
along with a network card. But inorder to get it all to
work, i need to install it, and the installation is in a
diskette. What can i do? What do u think the problem
might be??

There is no incompatibility between a floppy created on one
Windows operating system and another. They all use FAT12 and
should work in exactly the same way.

There may be an incompatibility in the way the two diskette
*drives* are aligned, preventing reading of a diskette created on
the other drive.

Your physical floppy drive may be damaged. See if you can format a disk and
read it.

Alternately, since you can obviously get online - download the driver, or if
it's on another system with a CD-RW, burn it to a CD.. Probably more up to
date than whatever's on the floppy.

I have a problem with mine, in that some status line seems to have
ceased to work: If I try to format from within Windows (and this applies
to Win ME as well as XP) the formatting fails - and the diskette becomes
unusable altogether. But it will format others that have not had that
attempted if I do it from a boot to a Win98 startup floppy. DOS
apparently does not care about whatever line is involved
