My Firefox Is Choosing Wrong ISP!

J

Jethro

I don't know what I have done, but I certainly did something or failed
to do something.

I am running XP PRO SP2.

My normal ISP is cable. I wanted to set up a dial-up ISP for backup
against the case where my cable provider goes down, which it has done
in the past. I chose 'free' NETZERO.

After I installed NETZERO, I found I had it working nicely, albeit
slow. However, after I shut down NETZERO, I have discovered that
my Firefox browser insists on trying to use NETZERO for browsing
rather than the normal cable ISP. And I can't stop it without
shutting down and re-booting. PITA.

If I don't start up NETZERO, this does not happen.

So I must have something set wrong in Firefox? Or somewhere else?
Can anyone help here?

Thanks

Jethro

In Firefox, click Tools > Options > Advanced > Network, then click the
Settings button under Connection. Select "Direct connection to the
Internet".

In Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections, select "Never dial
a connection". Then, click the LAN Settings button and un-check all
of the boxes under "Automatic configuration" and "Proxy server".
