My equations were changed into figures, how do I undo this?

I am working on a report and use Equation Editor objects in Tables to present
the formulas I need.

I tried to change the size of the symbols in the formulas. A couple of
minutes later I found out that Word changed all the equation editor objects
in my document into figures.

Now I cannot change the equations anymore. Is there a solution to convert
them back from figures to equation editor objects?

I was working in Word 2002, but now switched to Word 2003.

Thank you,
Arjen

This was sometimes one of the unfortunate effects of Word 2002
"autorecovering" a document. If you only have to change a few
equations, the best thing to do is to re-create the equations, but
from your post it seems that's not the case. We have an article about
this on our web site, but it involves opening the document in either
Word 97 or Word 2000 for the recovery, so unless you have access to
one of those versions, this probably won't work. It also involves
using MathType to do the conversion. You said you were using Equation
Editor, so I'm assuming you don't have MathType. You can still follow
the procedure in the article with the MathType 30-day evaluation
though, so if you want to give it a shot, download the eval version
and go for it. The article's here:
